Shuttle loses animal cargo in Farpoint Valley

Visitors and staff of Jailbirds, the nightclub in Farpoint Valley, were shaken up tonight when a shuttle landed nearby, executing an emergency landing near the shuttleport. A crew member of the shuttle, a rodian needed medical attention, and was carried by a wookiee out of the shuttle. A passing medic started to treat the rodian, saving his life by some accounts.

Unfortunately, the wookiee, the only crew member conscious, could not speak basic, and failed to inform the people present of a danger lurking inside the shuttle – a load of living spiders which needed to be fed. When the spiders broke out they attacked the citizens and visitors, and had to be shot, poisoning one visitor in the process. By chance a visiting diplomat carried a general antidote, and managed to save the empoisoned man.

While the carcasses of the spiders were carried away, the wookiee returned and shot at the diplomat, which prompted a fatal response by an armed security droid, who killed the wookiee. As of now it is unclear why the wookiee reacted that way, and neither his identity nor that of the still missing rodian are known.

What is known is that the spiders were a domesticated bred, considered a delicacy by some species, and quite valuable. The town government confiscated the shuttle until further investigations are completed.
