Imperial Fleet Command in the local sector announced today, that two days ago a large supply convoy, four freighters and four decimator class ships, led by commander Kalien, from the veteran 101st "Onyx" decimator squadron and supported by two scouts, reached the Endor system despite heavy attacks from rebel raiders in Nova couriers and converted freighter ships.
The press release detailed that the convoy broke through three ambushes, two of them in the Dathomir system, with minimal losses, decimating the attackers in return.
The lack of escort starfighters was surprising, and may signal a chance in Imperial doctrine, or so several strategy experts stated. So far, the Empire has fielded relatively few decimator-class ships, trusting its TIE Fighters and Star Destroyers to provide enough firepower, but the success of the 101st "Onyx" decimator squadron may bring expanded deployment of such ships in the sector.
In related news, the convoy's success also was looked at as a possible answer to the growing pirate threat in the sector by the Tatooine Trading Corporation, but as of yet it is unclear if the trade routes can support such convoys.
