Shakir wins the Farpoint Valley Karaoke Night for a second time

Date: 250608
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Farpoint Valley

Five days ago, the fifth Karaoke Night was held in the Grindhouse Bar in Farpoint Valley. Again, a diverse crowd was drawn in to compete for the surprise prize. For the first time, there was not just a prize for the winner, but also a prize for a random contestant. There were surprising talents among the crowd mostly made up by spacers, merchants and mercenaries.

Auros Drayen started the contest with another version of "Soldier Boy". Ikoogy Retoodi gave a fanfar solo afterwards, as much to impress the crowd as to impress the pretty rodian lady A'Keti. Then the songs continued with John Vetrano's "Lapti Nek", followed by Ryian Coron's "Jabba, he knows me". Dexis then performed "Waiting on the Galaxy to change" before Shakir, who had won the last Karaoke Night, and with it a flying pet, sang a song dedicated to Thoram Destinia, founder of Wonderlust, and her teacher. "Thoram, be good!". Eof then presented the more somber and melancholic "Fade to Black", followed by the twi'lek musician Alri with "Dreadnaught Lullaby". Pilot Mario'G sang "Viva la Vida", before Marcia brought the contest to a close with the classic "Fett's Vette".

When the votes started to come in it was soon clear that Shakir had won a second time - and another surprise egg. Ikoogy won the random suprise prize. So far the contents of both eggs are not known.

Afterwards, the "Teal Twi'lek group", made up by Shakir, Alri, Marcia, all teal colored twi'leks, had their first gig in the bar, entertaining the audience and drawing more people in.

According to the management, the next Karaoke night can be expected in about a month.

IMC Convoy escapes pirate ambush

Date: 250608
Planet: Tatooine/Naboo System/Ord Mantell
Region: Farpoint Valley/Nova Orion Station

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).

Usually, the weekly IMC Convoy from Farpoint Valley, Tatooine, to Nova Orion Station, Ord Mantell, has a number of escorting starfighters to fend off pirate attacks. Yesterday, this was not the case, and the three YT-1300 freighters undertaking the trip - Captain Metuki Ryuuj in his YT-1300 "Bad Company" led Captain Auros Drayen's YT-2400 "It's Irrelevant" and Captain Etyneo's "Lone Wolf", another YT-1300 class light freighter - had to fly without escorting snubfighters, trusting their gunners for protection.

Shortly after arriving at Penumbra Omen in the Naboo system, an unidentified X-Wing started to shadow the convoy, then demanded the surrender of the cargo. The convoy sped up, and when the X-Wing gave chase it was shot down by turret fire from the "Lone Wolf", which formed the rearguard of the convoy. Another suspected raider, a Vaksai heavy fighter, started to hound the convoy soon afterwards, and not even a trip through a Nebula and past an asteroid field could shake it off. However, when the pirate started an attack run on the freighters when those were preparing to enter hyperspace, it was shot down by the "Lone Wolf" before doing any damage to the ships.

The ships arrived safely at the Nova Orion station soon afterwards. IMC shares rose 1.5 % at the Corellia Stock Exchange.

Suspected Rebel rescued from Imperial custody

Date: 250608
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).

A few days ago, a routine patrol/search of the Mos Eisley Cantina was conducted by the local garrison. Despite initial trouble with possibly drunk crowds which neccessitated sending in back up, a suspected rebel officer was arrested and escorted to the star port.

Back at the cantina, emerging insurgents managed to whip the crowd into a frenzy and direct it against the soldiers in a successful attempt to free the prisoner. In the process a member of the attacking crowd was stunned and taken prisoner though, and evacuated with an Imperial transport.

Shortly after reaching orbit, however, the transport was intercepted by a YT-1300 broadcasting the ID "XT-321" to the local traffic control, escorted by a kimogila heavy fighter and an ARC-170. In a short fight, the imperial transport was disabled, and forced to surrender the prisoner before reinforcements could arrive.

The Imperial Fleet did not comment on this incident, but unofficially, officers claimed that due to heavy activity in Deep Space, local patrols and ready forces had been reduced, allowing rebels and criminals more freedom to operate.

Imperial Fleet foils desertion attempt

Date: 240608
Planet: Deep Space

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).

According to anonymous but usually well-informed sources, three days ago there was a desertion attempt on the Imperial Star Destroyer "Vengeance" in Deep Space. The deserter sabotaged the defense systems of the ship and managed to board a rebel courier ship that daringly docked during the confusion the sabotage caused.

The Nova Courier managed at first to escape, despite the swift reaction of the Imperial starfighters in the area, and more rebel forces appeared, trying to ensure the ship's escape into hyperspace.

Despite the heavy rebel presence, imperial starfighters and patrol craft supported by gunships managed to destroy the rebel courier carrying the deserter.

A week ago, the regular IMC Convoy from Farpoint Valley, Tatooine, to Nova Orion Station, Ord Mantell, came under attack in the Naboo system. While the two escorting starfighetrs engaged several raiders near the Naboo Station, Captain Ryian Coron's YT-1300 "Spinning Cloud" made a break for it, but came under pursuit by two high-speed A-Wing interceptors supported by two X-Wing space superiority fighters one the two escorts were disabled.

The following events are not known, but the ship reported to Nova Orion station with several hours delay, and showing signs of battle and fresh repairs. Since the cargo was delivered intact, no investigation was launched. Neither IMC nor Cpatain Coron have commented so far.

IMC Convoy reaches Ord Mantell system

Date: 170608
Planet: Tatooine/Naboo System/Ord Mantell
Region: Farpoint Valley/Nova Orion Station

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).

Seven days ago, the weekly IMC Convoy from Farpoint Valley, Tatooine, to Nova Orion Station, Ord Mantell, repulsed another pirate attack in the Naboo system. Captain Metuki's YT-1300 "Bad Company" and Captain Auros Drayen's YT-2400 "It's Irrelevant" both reached the Ord Mantell syste safely, although their escort suffered some damage during the fight. Pilot Traynu was as competent in his N-1 Starfighter as in the past, and drove the heavy fighters of the pirate raiders - X-Wings from the reports - off.

IMC stock rose 1.5 % as a result, although analysts claim that if those pirate attacks are not letting up, then rising insurance rates will drive profits down. Stock brokers expect additional security measures taken by the company to prevent this.

ISB Operative kidnapped

Date: 100608
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Bestine/Mos Eisley

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).

According to usually well-informed sources, an Imperial ISB Operative by the name of Celystia A. was abducted about 10 days ago in Mos Eisley's medical center by a group of unknown, but heavily armored people. Two days afterwards, she was dropped off naked but unharmed by an unidentified and unmarked shuttle at Bestine's Starport and taken into custody by stormtroopers on duty.

According to rumors from other sources, this deed was done by what was called "a group of Mandalorian Commandos", and related to the kidnapping of a "Saarai" in Mos Espa earlier, and a fire fight between that group and Trandoshan bounty hunters. The bounty hunter guild has reminded its members that there is a Bounty placed on all Mandalorian insurgents, but that those marks are known to offer heavy, at time deadly resistance.

IMC Convoy under attack - escorts damaged

Date: 100608
Planet: Tatooine/Naboo System/Ord Mantell
Region: Farpoint Valley/Nova Orion Station

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).

A week ago, Naboo saw another pirate attack on the weekly IMC Convoy transporting ore from Farpoint Valley, Tatooine, to Nova Orion Station, Ord Mantell. Fortunately, the convoy, led by Captain Ryian Coron's YT-1300 "Spinning Cloud" and consisting of Captain Metuki's YT-1300 "Bad Company" and Captain Amillo's Nova Courier "Revenant Comet", was escorted by Traynu in a N-1 Starfighter as well as an imperial patrol in a TIE Agressor piloted by Qinllan.

A unidentified gunboat, a Y-Wing, an A-Wing and a dunelizard attacked in the Naboo system, leading to a drawn out battle during which both escorts got disabled after buying the convoy time to reform and take out the remaining gunboat. No freighter was lost, and only one freighter took light armor damage.

IMC stock rose 2.5 % as a result. Experts are not yet decided if the use of a heavy gunboat means that pirate raiders are having access to heavier ships, or an as of yet unknown party entered the sector.

IMC Convoy fights off several waves of raiders

Date: 030608
Planet: Tatooine/Naboo System/Ord Mantell
Region: Farpoint Valley/Nova Orion Station

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).

A week ago, the weekly IMC Convoy transporting ore from Farpoint Valley, Tatooine, to Nova Orion Station, Ord Mantell, came under attack again. The convoy consisted of Captain Ryian Coron's YT-1300 "Spinning Cloud" and Captain Metuki's YT-1300 "Bad Company", and was escorted by pilot Traynu in his N-1 starfighter.

In the Naboo system, several unidentified fighters attacked the convoy. Despite taking heavy losses, more and more attackers appeared, and harried the convoy for several minutes until the freighters managed to escape to hyperspace.

Despite the numerous attackers, both freighetrs reached the destiantion - a feat even more remarkable due toi the fact that Captain Metuki flew his freighter without crew, and therefore without working gun turrets.
