The northwestern mountain range of Dantooine, an area the planetary government deemed unsafe due to numerous dangerous animals such as Grauls inhabiting it, was the site of a mysterious explosion last night, as detected by a weather satellite that reported the dustcloud rising from the location.
A survey team sent to the site to check it for possible volcanic activity found a mountain with one side blown off. First readings indicate a reactor explosion inside the mountain as the probable cause. The remains of a camp were found nearby, as well as the remains of several dead people and animals.
Authorities are of yet unsure what exactly happened there, and to whom. With a number of local fringe groups as well as off-planet smugglers using the mountains to hide, there is a wide range of suspects. According to a farmer near Crystal Hollow, the a local Janta tribe reported that a holy site of the tribe had been destroyed, and many of their members killed, but the veracity of this report could not yet be determinded. Given the origin of the explosion - a reactor - and the Jantas general lack of any technology surpassing stone knives, it is doubtful that the Jantas are responsible for the explosion, unless they tampered with a reactor installed by other people.
