The local sector command of the Imperial Forces just released the news bulletin which claims that the Imperial Navy conducted extensive search and destroy operations in the Corellia system last night. A task force led by commander Synth and composed of elements from Claw, Omega, and Crimson Squadron as well as Dark Flight was sent into the system to clear it out of rebel forces composing a threat to civilian and military shipping.
Striking out from the Talus space station, the task force conducted three sweeps of the system. The first sweep encountered heavier than expected rebel resistance, and suffered serious casualties. Reinforcements were brought to bear however, and two following strike forces swept the system clean.
The majority of the battles took place between the Talus and Corellia space stations. Eye witnesses reported a total of 30 to 40 ships engaging in combat, among them a Decimator-class patrol ship as well as a converted YT-1300 freighter and an unconfirmed sighting of a nova courier. The majority of the rebel ships reported were said to be A-Wings and X-Wings, while the Empire operated mostly Interceptors supported by various other ships, among them several TIE Oppressors.
Following those battles, more fighting was reported in Deep Space, though the reports of those engagements remain sketchy so far, and were not mentioned in the released news bulletin.
