Rebel raid on base near Bestine

Bestine has been the sight of a number of battles in the past, but has been relatively quiet for some time now - until yesterday. Residents of its outskirts rushed to shelters when explosions were heard nearby, and starfighters were flying overhead.

Soon, a thick cloud of smoke could be seen from the imperial outpost near the ruins of a former rebel base, followed by an unmarked transport landing, and lifting off mere minutes later, covered by several X-Wings. While not many details are known, locals spotted at least two imperial installations burning before ground troops secured the area.

The commander of the Imperial forces stationed in Bestine later issued a statement that rebel ships attacked an air base near Bestine, but were driven off with light losses, and then intercepted in space. Operational security supposedly prevented him from giving out any details.

Experts commented on this attack that it might inidcate a renewed effort on behalf of the Rebel Alliance to strike at Imperial supply lines and installations rather than combat units.
