Imperial Navy defends surveyors

In a recent press release, the Imperial Navy announced that three days ago, a combined task force of Omega, Claw and Crimson squadron as well as elements from Dark Flight and other units engaged large numbers of rebel ships in Deep Space in defense of asteroid miners which were surveying in the area.

According to the report the rebels were attacking with strong determination, focussing on the defenseless mining ships, and the imperial pilots were pressed hard to defend the surveyors during an hour-long engagement. During the battle, rebel raiders in Nova Courier-class ships and converted corellian freighters trying to use the attacks as a distraction to raid mining installations were destroyed as well.

It is at this point not yet clear if this is a sign that the rebellion is struggling to get enough materials and ore to keep their fleet flying, but several navy officers were cautiously optimistic.

Unnamed sources with ties to the Rebel Alliance claim that there was no attack on civilian miners, but a rebel operation to prevent military ships from exploiting more asteroids to fuel its warmachine. There was no information on how successful the mentioned operation was, however.
