Last night the Deep Space Sector saw another massive space battle as dozens of ships from the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic fought each other for hours heedless of the losses taken and the destruction wrought upon all sides. While the numerically superiour Imperial forces had the upper hand for most of the battle the rebel fighters didn't give up and kept attacking, gaining space superiority a number of times towards the end of the battle.

"Event Horizon" saves IMC convoy

Last week captain See'la Tualin's YT-2400-class freighter "Kair Tol" teamed up with the YT-1300 class light freighter "Event Horizon" of Captain Hoolidan Stazi to form a convoy transporting ore for the Intergalactic Mining Corporation from Farpoint Valley, Tatooine, to the Nova Orion Station in Ord Mantell. Barrenger Vynar flew escort in his Vaksai fighter "Krayt Dancer IV".
When the three ships reached the Corellia System they were attacked by an X-Wing and an ARC-170 near the hyperspace jump point "Trifecta Star". The "Kair Tol" was heavily damaged in the fight and the "Krayt Dancer IV" too was hit, but both attackers were shot down. The "Kair Tol" was then towed to the next station and repaired before all three ships continued their flight to the Ord Mantell System.
IMC shares rose 1% at the Coronet Stock Exchange following the news.

Empire wins massive battle in Deep Space

Last night the Galactic Empire sent a large task force to Deep Space to clear the system out of rebel forces in a counter-move to the recent defeats suffered at the hands of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Spearheaded by five gunboats the imperial forces decimated the outnumbered rebel ships confronting them in a long and bloody battle and took control of the sector.

The convoy made good time into the Corellia system, where it suddenly was attacked by two pirate raiders. In the ensuing fight all ships of the convoy were heavily damaged and drifting. Thank to what was later determinded to be confusion among the pirates the crew of the "Phoenix" managed to destroy one raider and escape from the other. Since the "Phoenix" had dragged the raiders away from the "Kair Tol" and the "Krayt Dancer", which had been disabled earlier, those two ships were able to conduct emergency repairs and also escape. All ships reached the Nova Orion Station safely afterwards.

Battle near Kor Vella

Two days ago the Corellian city of Kor Vella was shaken by a massive ground battle right on the city borders. According to reports a stormtrooper squad had been investigating a suspicious area near the city and came under fire. According to reports the town of West Carova was shaken by riots last night. Unconfirmed accounts claim that the riots were triggered when the local imperial garrison declared the mercenary force "Galactic Regulators" as traitors and took action against their leader, whose fate is not known at this point, but according to rumors he was executed.
The garrison responded to the rioting with brutal force. Anonymous spources claim there were several bodies left on the ground in town after stormtroopers opened fire.

Kidnapping in Mos Taike

Two days ago a violent shoot-out occurred in Mos Taike, usually a quiet town in northern Tatooine. From what is known two sentients in mandalorian armor were ambushed by unknown assaillants and overpowered. The two victims were dragged to a speeder, with the intent to kidnap them, when more suspected mandalorians arrived and tried to rescue them - though without success. Instead of the two kidnapped mandalorians being rescued they lost two more which were shot and left for dead while the kidnappers drove away into the desert.
So far it's not known what the reasons for this incident were but authorities suepct it's related to gang war in the underworld.

IMC Convoy fights off pirates

The ore was transported by Therrid's Y-8 medium freighter, which was piloted by Dee'lin, and the TTC-Tencilia, piloted by Ahl-Vinn. Barrenger Vynar flew escort.

Firefight in West Carova

Last night another firefight was reported from West Carova. According to the rather scarce information a twi'lek resident of the city was attacked by an unknown armored sentient in the small garden in front of the local cantina and knocked unconscious. Right afterwards a fire fight broke out during which the attacker was taken out by a bounty hunter. Both the twi'lek and the attacker, possibly a methan-breathing species, were taken away, likely being transported off-planet.
Neither their fate nor the reasons for this fight are currently known, no bounty was collected recently that fit either description.

According to the latest news Arklem Qeq, infamous pirate, is wanted by the Nova Orion Station's authorities again. Three days ago the YT-2400 "Midnight Eclipse" approached the station and landed in its hangar. Station security started to inspect the ship and the crew disembarked and entered the station's main area.
Soon afterwards the security officer in charge of the inspection reported a bribery attempt to the imperial garrison, who locked down the hangar. The ship's crew noticed this, and started a firefight in their attempt to break out, which led to the death of several stormtroopers. More deaths resulted when the main hangar doors were blown up, causing an explosive decompression in the hangar area. According to rumors Arklem Qeq himself was almost kileld there as well, but managed to save himself in the last moment.
The "Midnight Eclipse" was pursued by several TIE Fighters and marshall Bas'ten's KSE Firespray but the pirates got away. As a reaction to this incident the station managment has placed a bounty of 25'000 credits on Arklem Qeq's head, and a bounty of 15'000 credits on the heads of two of his acocmplices. Interested bounty hunters are asked to contact the station's administrator, Iskar Kreed, for further details.

Yesterday the Sector fleet of the Galactic Empire attacked a rebel listening post in Deep Space that had been feeding intel about troop movements to rebel strike units. The attack was spearheaded by 4 gunboats and supported by fighter and bomber escorts, launching from the "ISS Vanguard", an Imperial Star Destroyer stationed in Deep Space.
The strike force ran into larger rebel forces than expected and was forced to divert some of its ships to blunt a rebel counter-attack aimed at the ISS Vanguard. Pitched battles both at the rebel listening post as well as around the Star Destroyer followed. Despite strong rebel attacks the Imperial task force carried the day, destroying the rebel base while only suffering light damage to the ISS Vanguard.

Tusken attack on second archeological field trip

Two weeks after an archeological field trip to Tatooine was attacked by tusken when investigating clues in the Mos Espa area, another field trip from the University of Theed under the guidance of Britney' was attacked again by what observers describe as a horde of tusken.
Since after the earlier trip's trouble security precautions had been taken for this trip the group managed to fight off the tusken and kill their leader. When questioned what could be the cause for the tusken agression a spokesperson of the University of Theed stated that the archeological expedition was not even aimed at tusken affairs but was searching a lost ship of historical importance.
As was explained the second field trip did manage to gather further clues, including a booster that may have been used in the lost ship.

Pirate base and flagship destroyed in Ord Mantell!

Last night the Nova Orion Shipyards hired a mixed force of mercenaries to strike at the pirates preying on the shipping in the system. Led by Wint Risden in his YT-1300 "Exodus" the small force struck first at the pirate base that was rendered unoperational in an attack two weeks ago but whose automated emergency distress signal has been used as a bait by pirates since then to lure unsuspecting ships into ambushes. Despite a very large pirate presence the mercenaries managed to destroy the station, with the "Exodus" luring the majority of the pirates away by serving as bait, which opened the station up for a decisive strike.
As soon as the pirate base blew up the mercenaries moved on to attack and destroy a Warlord-class cruiser, considered to be a flagship of the pirates. The ship was found and destroyed within minutes.
The loss of both the station and the cruiser is expected to drive down the number of pirate attacks significantly, but ships entering the Ord Mantell system are still cautioned to be on their guard and have their weapons ready.

Freighter forced to emergency landing south of Mos Taike

Four days ago a YT-1300 freighter was forced into an emergency landing south of Mos Taike. Soon after landing the ship came under attack by aggressive scavengers intent on "salvaging" the hull and the crew had to resort to blaster fire to keep them at bay and ultimately drive them off.
Contrary to first rumors neither jawas nor tusken were involved in the fight. It is not known what emergency the ship suffered, nor what its cargo was, but rumors claim it was a pirate attack or smuggling run gone wrong.

Four days ago a YT-1300 freighter was forced into an emergency landing south of Mos Taike. Soon after landing the ship came under attack by aggressive scavengers intent on "salvaging" the hull and the crew had to resort to blaster fire to keep them at bay and ultimately drive them off.
Contrary to first rumors neither jawas nor tusken were involved in the fight. It is not known what emergency the ship suffered, nor what its cargo was, but rumors claim it was a pirate attack or smuggling run gone wrong.
