While the attacks on ships have lessened lately thanks to the efforts of the Imperial Navy and CorSec patrols, the pirates seem to have switched their attacks rather than stopping. Last night an archaeological expedition on Dantooine was brutally attacked by a small band of pirates.
From what is known, the two scientists that made up the expedition were held up at blaster point, tied up, and then brutally beaten into unconsciousness before the site was ransacked. Countless historical facts and items were destroyed by the ignorant criminals hunting for high-profile items that would sell well on the Black market, crushing carefully mapped positions needed for dating the excavated items in their greed.
Despite the brutal incident, excavation work will continue, or so the authorities are cited.
