According to eye witnesses and unconfirmed sources, imperial fleet units were operating in the Karthakk system a few days ago, attacking and securing the Trade Federation Outpost there. Rebel or pirate starfighters tried to intercept them, but were driven away taking heavy losses. Fleeing rebel ships were decimated at Voria's Ember.
Other rumors claim an imperial transport, docking at the station, possibly containing a boarding squad, was shot down later while travelling with a small escort while undergoing repairs of its hyperdrive. Escape pods were sighted before the ship blew up, their fate is not known however.
Given the various reports of heavy rebel losses, it is puzzling that the Empire does not acknowledge the battles that took place. Rumors claim that the main goal of the operation was not secured, and the operation was still underway.
