Imperial Navy defeated in Yavin IV and Naboo

A large scale seek and destroy operation of the Imperial Navy ended disastrously last night when forces of the Rebel Alliance ambushed the task force assigned to the mission in two brutal engagements in the Yavin and Naboo system. A third engagement in the Corellia system ended in the destruction of the rebel forces, but did not make up to the losses taken in the ambushes earlier that day, according to strategy experts.

While the sector command did not release any communique yet, speculation about the effects of this battle is running rampant. Most expect rebel dominance in the sector would be making space lanes unsafe for any traffic, due to the rebel lack of concern about piracy. This problem might be compounded by imperial units currently on anit-piracy duty being reassigned to operations dealing with the rebel threat, leaving the pirates unhindered to prey upon trade traffic.

In stores on Naboo, several import goods’ prices were starting to rise, and similar effects are to be expected on more remote planets in the Outer Rim.
