IMC Convoy attacked by pirates - and saboteurs

Yesterday the Intergalactic Mining Company hired the YT-2400 class light freighter "Sugar Rush" captained by Britney, and chartered the "TTC-Tencilia", another YT-2400 flown by Inaera Kell, to transport ore from Farpoint Valley, Tatooine, to the Nova Orion Station in Ord Mantell. Ycoga Redspine and Barrenger Fynar were flying as escorts.

The convoy was attacked shortly after entering the Corellia system by two Clone Wars-vintage ships, an ARC-70 and a V-Wing. All four ships were seriously damaged and both freighters had to conduct jury-rigged repairs until the final raider was shot down. After more repairs the convoy continued towards Ord Mantell.



The troubles of the convoy were not over yet though - right after entering the Ord Mantell system the "TTC-Tencilia" shook from an explosion in the cargo area that caused a hull breach and knocked the engines out. Fortunately the ship was in space and could be towed towards the Nova Orion Station by the "Sugar Rush" or the consequences would have been fatal. Even so one crew member needed medical treatment after a brief exposure to vacuum.

Preliminary results from a scan of the remains of the cargo compartment indicate that the explosion was caused by a thermal detonator. How it arrived there is not yet clear, but sabotage seems the most likely answer. The administration of the station has ordered a full scan of their own systems to ensure their security has not been compromised.
