Two days ago the Alliance to restore the Republic launched a offensive against an imperial base in the Yavin system near the "Smuggler's Run" hyperspace jump point. The base was defended by a task force of mixed ships including decimator-class patrol ships from several units such as the 42nd Fighter Wing, AI and DFA squadron, but the imperial ships were hard pressed from the start of the offensive, with bomber wave after bomber wave attacking the stationary base after concussion missiles from interceptors had stripped it of is shields.
When the staging area of the rebels was discovered a counter attack was launched against the rebel supply line, but without success due to heavy defenses. Those were shifted to the rebel attack force as the battle continued, increasing the pressure on the defenders which were barely holsing on and taking severe losses. At that point the imperial base had suffered critical damage and despite emergency repairs by its crew, was close to destruction.
A final counter attack on the weakened rebel defenses failed shortly before the imperial base was blown up and the remaining defneding ships withdrawn to Deep Space.
