The Imperial communications tower located on the hill in Bestine was attacked two days ago, as a press-release by the local garrison stated today. The crew on duty was killed, the rank badges of the officers were found to have been torn off, likely collected as trophies.
The unknown but assumed to be rebel-aligned attackers had done more than just killing the crew though - they had left the tower trapped. During the investigation of the scene hours later several canisters containing nerve gas went off, spreading the toxic gas throughout the installation. The investigation team as well as several assisting stormtroopers were killed. The remaining soldiers on station managed to contain the nerve gas before it spread to the city below and so prevented civilian casualties.
The origin of the nerve gas is not clear, the imperial labels on the canisters were obvious fakes. More puzzling is the "Balance" sabbacc card that was left on the chest of the ranking Imperial officer on site by the attackers before they left.
