HGS trial day 6

Date: 070610
Planet: Talus
Region: Fort Keen

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).

The sixth day of the trial against the Holowood Galactic Studios started with the testimony of Farik Evocatus, an officer serving in the garrison of Fort Keen. That celox Scorpio called him to testify was a surprise since the officer had been vocally denouncing both defence and prosecution as incompetent for much of the trial.

As expected Lt. Evocatus, who has a law degree but is serving as a pilot in the Imperial navy, repeated his attacks on both prosecution and defense right at the start of his testimony. He did contradict himself when asked whether he disliked aliens, first claiming that his marriage to an alien demonstrated his affection, then claiming this had been sarcasm. Whether he is repesneting himself in an upcoming divorce trial hasn't been asked though, but his remarks may be grounds enough for one.

After getting permission to treat the witness as hostile, Lt. Evocatus stated that both the Fort Keen administrator as well as the administrator of medical affairs were aliens, but mistook the latter's species. Fhaera is no rodian, as Lt. Evocatus claimed, but a twilek. Lt. Evocatus once again claimed to have been sarcastic. Judge Kartzer admonished him to cease trying to provide entertainment, and answer the questions correctly.

This was somewhat counteracted by Celox Scorpio himself, when he dramatically asked the Lt. whether or not he saw the faces of the enemies of the Empire among the accused members of HGS, a quite showboating move. Nevertheless the witness carefully studied each member before asnwering that rebels would often hide amongst the civilian population, and as far as he could tell, some of them might be ordinary citizens by day, while firing mortars at Imperial forces, by night.

Celox then asked Duvette and Koras if they knew what mortars were, which both denied. When Celox Scorpio asked a human HGS employe whether he was a terrorist, judge Kartzer stopped the theatrics and ordered for Lt. Evocatus to return to sit on the stand. After a last question - whether or not a war was won by music and dance - the witness was excused, which he used to lecture the defense attorney for asking the wrong questions. Legal experts would agree with that, though would hardly agree that Lt. Evocatus would have asked the right questions himself, given his sharade of a testimony, which would have had fit better in some farcial play on stage than a courtroom.

Prosecutor Bar-Jona did not take part in Lt. Evocatus testimony, sitting quietly in his chair.

The next witness called to testify was miss Ib-Eva, hired by HGS after only recently, and therefore without knowledge or participation in the Imperial Yell show. Prosector Symane however claimed that she was associated by marriage with governor Sindato, who was currently on trial himself for suspected support of the Rebellion.

The witness stated that she had divorced the governor in order to prevent any accusations by association with the Governor - a quite compelling reason, in some aspects, but which also could be called opportunistic. Ib-Eva then stated that her new dance studio would not harbor any rebellious activities before she was excused and the trial session ended.
