The Ord Mantell System has been a hunting ground for pirates since months and the Nova Orion Station has suffered many attacks by those criminals. So many that last night the shipyards hired several mercenaries to strike back.
The target was an old space station used by pirates as a base. Defended by heavy several pirate ships and heavy shielding it was a hard nut to crack even for two armed freighters, one older ARC-170 recon ship and a TIE Interceptor dispatched as an escort from the Onyx Squadron stationed in the system.
According to the information released the "Exodus" piloted by Captain Wint Risden docked with the pirate station and had a droid plant explosives directly on its hull while the other ships engaged the pirate ships defending the base and covering the "Exodus". During the engagement numerous pirates were shot down but the attacking force fond its route back to the Nova Orion Station cut off by strong pirate reinforcements.
Jan Forsythe, an imperial pilot with Onyx Squadron, was killed during this second phase of the operation while the other ships reached the Nova Orion Station, although damaged.
Scanner recordings as well as an automated emergency broadcast that started shortly after the explosives detonated indicate that the pirate base was damaged beyond repair.
