Jawa deny being responsible for speeder theft

Date: 140909
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).

Whenever a droid or speeder disappears Tatooine residents are likely to blame the jawas, and many residents and visitors of the planet keep a close eye on their possessions whenever they spot one of the small scavengers. How much of that reputation as thieves is based on actual thefts, and how much is based on the fact that the jawas are generally the weakest sentients on Tatooine, and far safer to blame han most of the criminals that frequent places such as Mos Eisley is a matter of opinion, but it's a fact that the jawas are not too infrequently victims of violence, and their reputation is partially responsible for that.

When last night a rodian visitor to the Lucky Despot left the casino only to find his "Flare-S" speeder missing the local jawas were quick to deny any responsibility in the hope of preventing violence directed at them by the rodian or any of his friends. Other guests reported seeing a suspicious human male in the area, but the identity of this suspect remains unknown. One resident was overheard saying that no matter who stole the speeder, odds were it would show up at the jawa market in Northwestern Tatooine in due time.

Whoever may have been the thief, visitors to Mos Eisley are well-advised to be on their guard when leaving their speeders parked.
