Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Today Zaviour Candossian, the Minister of Health of New Doros, was kidnapped on Talus. The exact circumstances of the kidnapping are not known, but he was quickly brought to Lok where he was held by Nym in the infamous pirate king's palace. The reasons for this kidnapping are not clear, but according to unconfirmed rumors Nym demanded information about and a sample of the virus that recently had caused a plague on Talus.
Instead of giving out such a sample, or paying a ransom, a commando team was quickly gathered and sent to Lok, where a covert assault on the Palace dungeons was launched with the support of combat droids and using substantial amounts of explosives. Soon the Palace grounds shook with the force of explosions, and the team managed to rescue the minister and make their escape.
While the current location of Minister Candossian has not yet been released the Talus Goverment assured the population that both minister and virus were safe and secure.

Incident in Farpoint Valley - Aak almost attacked again
Date: 290809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Farpoint Valley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Last night the infamous toydarian slaver Aak visited Jailbirds, the nightclub run by the Neutron Pixies in Farpoint Valley. The slaver entered with his slave Mischi-Mischi, still mourning the death of her sister, and a man wearing ubese armor, one of his guards, and was meeting a few of his acquaintances to talk shop, as far as is known.
The rest of the club was busy, with three members of the Neutron Pixies, Ramona, Clarissa and Tal'Shiva, dancing and visiting musician Coljo Niham soon taking over the musical parts. Things took a turn for the worse when Aak's guard was seen manipulating what looked like a micro-lab and muttering about a virus, and Aak stating at the same time that Twi'leks had primitive minds.
The latter insult caused Tal'Shiva, a proud twi'lek, to confront Aak and give him a piece of her mind while Aak's guard was told to leave the club and do not conduct any biological experiments in there again, ever. Since Aak's guard was concerned with defending Aak from the verbal and potential physical attacks from Tal'Shiva, which was backed by friends of hers, he did not heed the order to leave, and when he threatened the people present with retaliation by the Brotherhood of Dosh a fight seemed inevitable.
The situation was fortunately defused when Aak left, taking his entourage with him. According to Farpoint's Mayor Kimisei Bythmi, who had the incident investigated, the virus was later identified as harmless. Mayor Bythmi cautioned people though, with the memory of the Talus Plague so fresh still, to take care not to conduct experiments involving viruses outside sealed enviroments. The Neutron Pixies announced that Jailbirds would be receiving upgraded bio-scanners to avoid such incidents in the future.

Slave suicides in the hands of the Brotherhood of Dosh
Date: 280809
Planet: Lok
Region: New Dosha
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Slavery of sentients caused another tragedy last night when a young twi'lek's life was ended under cruel circumstances. Kaymi, sister to Mischi-Mischi, a slave of Aak the toydarian, had been seeking her sister after their mother had died. During her search she got captured and thrown in a cage in New Doros.
Wounded and suffering she nevertheless followed Aak to Rori, where she was bound and beaten. At least she managed to see her sister, but she was soon picked up for transport to New Dosha on Lok.
There, in the hands of the Brotherhood of Dosh, she was abused and tortured for two days until she managed to get her hands on a knife. She stabbed herself while bound to a chair, mortally wounding herself in the process. Mischi-Mischi rushed to New Dosha from Lady Chy'na's palace and arrived in time to share the last moments of her sister, chanting prayers to the goddess Kikaleki.
Though not even in death did the poor slave find dignity and respect. Instead of getting a funeral her body was taken away by Scirzzo, and allegedly cut to pieces and thrown into the heating furnaces of the town. Her ashes then were sold to her grieving sister, but even this was combined with more insults and scorn: She was told her sister's passing was no more than an animal's death, since as a warmblood she would be refused by the Scorekeeper.
Mischi-Mischi suffered further when she, extremely distraught by those tragic events, did not earn as much money as usual for her master Aak and earned the toydarian's displeasure.
This is the second suicide of a slave in less than a month, and just a glimpse in the horrors the practise of slavery brings with it each day.

Slavers clash violently in the Lucky Despot - Brotherhood on the move?
Date: 260809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Last night Aak the Toydarian, a slaver based on Talus, was visiting the Lucky Despot in Mos Eisley and ordering a few of his twi'lek slaves around when an unknown humanoid wearing full armor confronted and threatened him. According to several witnesses Aak kept his cool and tried to talk to the man, but despite the arrival of several of his employes the situation remained tense, the man obviously not impressed.
Things grew even more tense when two members of the Brotherhood of the Dosh, Scirzzo and Izisk, arrived, to protect Aak, and were confronted by a pair of twi'leks and a few unknown but suspected rebel soldiers. Who was opposing whom is not clear, the reports we have are contradicting each other, but violence seemed imminent when Aak was escorted - some say ordered - out of the casino by the trandoshans, and most of the involved people left as well.
The remaining guests and performers - among them three members of the Neutron Pixies - relaxed too soon though, since the two trandoshans returned, first ordering the still unknown man who started all to the roof of the Lucky Despot, then shortly afterwards ordering the same man to bring the well-known zeltron slaver Kaylaa, who had been watching the scene before, to the roof.
Kaylaa objected and tried to flee, but the exit was blocked by Izisk and she was cornered in the basement and overpowered in a short firefight, then dragged unconscious to the roof. Accounts of what happened there are sketchy at best, but from what is known the zeltron was savagely beaten and a bystander - maybe an unfortunate witness to the scene on the roof - was killed.
Zakor, captain of the Aluminum Falcon, managed to provide some first aid to the zeltron while the trandoshans left the casino. Some witnesses claim there was a third trandoshan, or a hybrid droid/trandoshan, but those remain unconfirmed and its role unclear, but Kayla was recovered by her coworkers.
The consequences of this incident are as of yet unknown. Kaylaa is a prominent member of the Twin Suns slaving organisaton and it remains to be seen if the attack on her will spark another slaver war, or if this is just another sign of the Brotherhood of the Dosh sucessfully moving to take control of the slave trade.

New slaving monopoly? Aak makes deal with Hsskor
Date: 250809
Planet: Lok
Region: New Dosha
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
According to usually well-informed sources Aak the Toydarian, a slaver with quite a reputation, was summoned to New Dosha on Lok by the Brotherhood of Dosh yesterday, where he met with the Scalelord Hsskor, the founder and leader of the Brotherhood. The details of the meeting are unknown, but according to the sources Aak and the Scalelord agreed to work together for a dosh dominated slaving monopoly.
Such a deal is sure to have far-reaching consequences for but also beyond the slaving business. So far it is not known if the other slaving organisations operating in the sector have made similar agreements, but if there is resistance to the dominance of the Brotherhood then a violent war between slavers is to be expected.

Aluminum Falcon fights off pirates
Date: 250809
Planet: Tatoo System/Naboo System/Ord Mantell
Region: Farpoint Valley/Nova Orion Station
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Last night IMC hired Fish-Tec Industries to transport the weekly ore shipment from Tatooine to Ord Mantell. Fish-Tec Industries used the "Aluminum Falcon", a modified YT-1300, to carry the ore, flown by Captain Zakor. The ship was escorted by pilots Dra'ven and Bee (both flying advanced X-Wings) and Nauvasheena, who was flying an older Bellubab-22. The ships took off from the new landing pad in Farpoint Valley and gathered in Tatooine's orbit before making their way to the closest jump point.
Upon reaching the Naboo system the ships were first attacked by an ARC-170, but the raider was taken out by Nauvasheena in a head to head encounter. The respite for the freighter was short-lived though since another raider, this time an A-Wing, attacked, and a fierce battle followed.
During the battle the raider disabled or damaged all escorting fighters, then pursued the Alumnium Falcon. In the process of this chase the YT-1300 took serious damage to its rear armor, but managed to shoot the attacker down without suffering system failures. After repairs all ships continued on to Ord Mantell.
IMC shares rose 2 % at the Coronet Stock Exchange following the news.

Temple burned down in New Doros

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
In the new Temple of Quietus in New Doros, which had been the target of vandals two weeks ago, a fire broke out two days ago, leaving part of the building in ashes. The cause of the fire is not yet known. Rumors claim it was arson, aimed at sending the temple curator a message, but no one seems to know what message this might be.
One source speculated that there was a deal that went sour between the flock of faithful of the temple and an outsider group or organisation, and fear that there will be retaliation and an impending war.

Spice Dealings on the rise in Mos Eisley?
Date: 250809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
While Mos Eisley always had a spice abuse problem - everyone is familiar with the spiceheads around and in town - spice dealing and spice-related crimes have been low lately, compared with the height of Tatooine's Underground War a few years ago. And the slaving frenzy has gotten most of the attention lately as well, overshadowing spice dealing.
Recently though there have been increasing numbers of reports of spice pushers becoming more active, especially in the cantinas of Mos Eisley, and rumors of more smugglers being hired for smuggling spice are spreading as well.
The MEPD stated that this was just a statistical spike, and not indicative of a long-term development, but did not comment when asked if they had taken any counter measures.

Slave suicides after death of slaver
Date: 240809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
According to an anyonmous but seemingly well-informed source, a young Twi'lek slave named Durha has recently committed suicide. She was one of Wulfan's prized slave girls, according to rumors even genetically enhanced to have chameleon skin, able to change colors according to the whim of her owner.
As the source goes on Durha was conditioned to please whatever master she served - in this case the late Wulfan. She was so devoted to Wulfan - or so in love, people say - that she was determinded to followed him into death after he was killed a few weeks ago, despite many of her fellow slaves trying to talk her out of this.
Ironically, she acquired a weapon for her suicide, a feat many other slaves would use to fight for their freedom, which makes Durha's story even more tragic.
She will not be forgotten though.

Interview with Countess Andromeda: A civic hero?
Date: 230809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Farpoint Valley
Story by Freelance Holonews Reporter
Farpoint Valley, the gorgeous city nestled in the mountains, a hop skip and jump away from one of the three known oasis on Tatooine. A sleepy town of late, a noblewoman from Naboo however wishes to change that, with the help of current mayor Kimisei Bythmi. We sat down with Countess Thaesus Andromeda in the ornately decorated city hall, but even a hall as pristine as this one can't escape the sand of Tatooine, clumps in the corners, but still a fine building. Countess Thaesus Andromeda is a petite woman, a figure of tact and composure.
HN:Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me Countess
A: The pleasure is all mine darling.
HN: Now, I gather that you are a resident of Farpoint Valley yourself?
A: Oh darling, I am in the process of buying a lot here in the Valley, however I do own a few businesses here, I myself have alot invested in this wonderful city.
HN: Aaah I see, now Farpoint Valley has long been a peaceful place, there have of course been crimes here and there no different then any other city, what are your thoughts about your colleague who visited, and his unfortunate death here?
A: I would first like to say that Farpoint Valley is an extremely safe city, I myself walk the streets at night, to stare at the stars, I never feel threatened at all. Now on the subject of my late colleague Lord Sirax, this incident was not a random occurance, sneaky little cowards decided to do this. Rest assured, The Andromeda Group has contacted the House of Sirax and given our deepest condolences.
HN: Aaah, I see, so tell about your role in the workings of this city.
A: Well darling I am merely a helper, I have helped out the city in many ways, one of them being planning events or garnering prospective citizens to our borders, or even promoting commerce within the city. I do this, because, before I married my past husband The Count, my home was Farpoint Valley. I owned a restaurant off the beaten path that got a moderate amount of business. Farpoint Valley was my starting point in my evolution to what I am now, a successful businesswoman and statesmen.
HN: I see, how will your future residence and interests on Tatooine conflict with your duties on Naboo?
A: Oh darling, don't be silly Naboo is very close to Tatooine, as my duties go, I show up to a few Court events and that is about the extent of my duties. The Court is mostly ceremonial now anyways darling, however there are still hereditary titles etcetra.
HN: I understand, well thank you for your time Countess.
A: Thank you darling, have a safe journey home.

Slavers hard at "work" again in Mos Eisley
Date: 230809
Planet: Tatooine

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
After the big slave auction in New Doros, Talus, two days ago the various slaver organisations lost no time refilling their "stock". According to unconfirmed reports the slaver group "Twin Suns" led by the late Wulfan's brother Sevorick alone managed to captire and enslave three people in Mos Eisley's cantina last night, a zabrak, a tukian twi'lek and a zeltron, the attacks conducted by men in their trade mark tan armor, and apparently led by the quite infamous "Kayla".
Potential victims - which encompasses a lot of people - should be on their guard, and not travel Mos Eisley by themselves these days.

Obsidian Dagger Squadron foils rebel mining operation
Date: 220809
Planet: Deep Space
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
The Obsidian Dagger Squadron, operating out of its new headquarters on Dantooine, conducted another operation last night to deny the Rebel Alliance forces access to the asteroid ore in Deep Space, a ressource deemed vital to the war effort, while simultaneously securing the ore for the Galactic Empire.
Operating with elements from other Imperial units in the sector the squadron took control of Deep Space and effectively shut down any mining operation by the Alliance for over an hour despite constant rebel efforts to the contrary, though not without taking losses themselves, both among fighters and miners.
The mined ore was transferred to a secure shipyard where it will be used to build new ships and weapons for the Imperial Navy.
The following footage was released by the Obsidian Dagger Squadron Headquarters:

Many of our readers may be familiar with the danger slaver organisations presnet for residents and visitors alike on Tatooine, and especially in near-lawless Mos Eisley. Not many may be familiar with the way such activities are supported on planets many may consider civilized. Last night showed how when a slave auction was held in New Doros, Talus - and attended by the governor of Talus, Cas-Ru Roben, himself.
The unfortunate captives were first presented in the "Slave Cage", where they had to dance on stage so potential buyers could "inspect" them.
Then the slaves - mostly twi'lek women - were herded to the auction area, under heavy security.
The auction itself was held under open space, and attended by a large crowd, among them governor Cas-Ru Roben himself, and prominent slavers like Aak the Toydarian and Sevorick themselves presented their "merchandise", trying to incite the crowd to bid high - which they succeeded at in most cases, demand for slaves seems to remain high and the business can be expected to remain profitable.
The sale of sentient flesh did not go unopposed though since a peaceful protest had been organized by activists, encouraging attendants to wear white clothes as a sign of opposition to this kind of trade, and a number could be seen in white.
Fitting for the mentality this kind of auction showed was that a man was stabbed, cut and beaten right in the back of the seating area, but without the spectators taking notice.

Farpoint Valley cautions Beach Party fans
Date: 220809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Farpoint Valley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Northeast of Farpoint Valley, about 1 km away from the city limits one can find an Oasis, one of only three known on Tatooine. As expected this is a quite popular recreation spot for the local population. Two days ago there was a beach party held there at night, which drew a few people from all over Tatooine.
Farpoint Valley's mayor Kimisei Bythmi drove out there as well, but not to attend the party, but to remind the party-goers that the location was outside the city limits and therefore subject to some dangers, and that the community would not be held accountable if anything happened. Since security for the party was provided by several droids and guards and since most of the residents of Tatooine are armed themselves his concerns were noted, but not particularly shared.
Ironically the mayor himself was attacked by wild animals on his way back to the town and barely escaped in his speeder. Mayor Bythmi did not want to comment on the incident himself.

Man "arrested" and abused by slavers in the Lucky Despot?
Date: 210809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
The Lucky Despot casino in Mos Eisley saw a violent, but also mysterious incident last night. A few men were watching the local dancers when a group of armored humanoids entered, and blockaded the exit. It wasn't a robbery as it turned out though - no demands for money were made. Instead a man among the audience was singled out, accused of carrying contraband or illegal weapons - a charge that would be familiar to most of Mos Eisley's residents, should they ever face law enforcement - and proceeded to "arrest" him.
The armored men did not identify themselves nor claim to be part of the MEPD, much less Imperial officials, but according to rumors their armor was similarly colored as armor worn by a local slaving group in the past.
Once the unfortunate man was cuffed he was fitted with some restraining device, then force-marched to a backroom of the casino. A few minutes later the armored men left the Lucky Despot.
Their victim was found unconscious and wounded on the floor and was carried by two bystanders to the Mos Eisley Med Center, where he was treated. Unfortunately he seemed to be suffering from psychical trauma as well, showing signs of paranoia, and disappeared from the med center soon afterwards. His current situation or location is unknown, he seems to have gone missing.

Ikedo Wolf wins Farpoint Valley's Droid Challenge Tournament
Date: 200809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Farpoint Valley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Two days ago Farpoint Valley held the Droid Challenge, a tournament pitting combat droids at each other. With a prize for the winner of 1'000'000 credits donated by the Andromeda Group it attracted several contestants. At first Ravane's Guardian Mark II was winning most fights, beating "Stup" from Ramona as well as "Clank" from Inaera Kell, before Ikedo Wolf's own Guardian Mark II, a new product from the Pulsar Droid line, entered the fray, beating all comers without trouble.
Unfortunatley the droid was not yet finished, and went out of control two times, attacking the audience. Thanks to the quick actions of two medics in the audience, Bee and Icyja, no loss of life was caused though, and the droid was re-adjusted by Wag, a computer specialist from Pulsar Corporation.
After Ikedo Wolf had been presented his prize the contestants and audience moved to the Black Hole Nightclub to celebrate.

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Last night a man was found shot to death in the center of New Doros. The body was later identified as "Atzet", a former bounty hunter, and the cause of death was determinded as a precise shot to the head from long range.
The cuplrit has not been identified. According to rumors Atzet had been helping two subjects wanted by the Empire but there is no record of Imperial troops being responsible for his death. Other rumors claim he might have been killed for reasons linked to his past, but no details are known at this point.

IMC Convoy shoots down two pirates
Date: 180809
Planet: Tatoo System/Naboo System/Ord Mantell
Region: Nova Orion Station
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Last night IMC sent two more freighters carrying weapon-grade steel from Tatooine to Ord Mantell, Captain Inaera Kell's "Outlaw's Justice" and the TTC-Tencilia" flown by Coolo, both YT-2400 class ships. The freighters flew without escorts but were able to cover each other - in theory. The convoy took off from the new landing pad in Farpoint Valley and gathered in Tatooine's orbit, as usual.
Both ships soon had an opportunity to put the theory to the test when they were attacked in the Naboo system by an Advanced X-Wing and an older ARC-170. In a prolonged fight both attackers were shot down without either freighter suffering armor damage, thanks to strong shields and quick shunting. The cargo safely reached the Nova Orion Station in Ord Mantell soon afterwards.
IMC shares rose 4 % at the Coronet Stock Exchange following the news.

No more bodies found in Dearic's rivers
Date: 160809
Planet: Talus
Region: Dearic
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Four days ago we published the news about several sentient corpses that had been found floating or submerged in the rivers south of Dearic, Talus. Suspicions of a serial killer arose, but no further evidence had come forth.
Since then, surprisingly, no more bodies have been found in the rivers south of Dearic. Either the killer stopped, left Talus, or - and this is the most ominous possibility - picked another way to dispose of his victims.
So far the authorities prefer the population stays attentive, and reports unusual occurences and possible clues to this crime.

Imperial Navy captures smuggler working for the Rebel Alliance
Date: 160809
Planet: Deep Space
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Last night the Imperial Navy detected a disabled and unidentified light freighter - a YT-1300 class ship - in the Karthakk system. In light of the knowledge that the system as well as its planet, Lok, was rife with criminal elements supporting the Rebel Alliance a task force was gathered immediately to secure the ship for further investigations.
Despite the speed of the task force - made up from elements of the DFA and Obsidian Dagger Squadrons as well as other imperial units - they did not find the suspected smuggler. Instead they met a small rebel task force which was covering the retreat of the freighter. The imperial pilots were unable to stop the YT-1300 from escaping the system but decimated the rebel ships.
But the amount of ships the rebel alliance sent to support the unidentified YT-1300 did confirm that the ship was a transport in the employ of the rebel fleet, and important enough to rate a significant escort force. Quick scans tracked the jump traces to the Dantooine system. Moving quickly the imperial fighters blocked the suspected destination, a rebel-affiliated space station, and soon were in combat again with the escort force of the freighter. In a prolonged battle they managed to drive off the rebel ships and disable the smuggler, then board it and have a prize crew repair the ship and jump to the Endor system.
In Endor the imperial fighters escorted the freighter to the Claw Station, which was under attack by rebel forces. Immediately the task force started breaking the blockade then protected the smuggler and the station until the freighter reached the Deep Space system.
In Deep Space the YT-1300 was escorted to the next jump point. The escorting ships had to fend off several increasingly fierce rebel attacks before the freighter made it to safety.

Obsidian Dagger Squadron relocates its base
Date: 160809
Planet: Kashyyyk System/Karthakk System/Yavin System/Dantooine System/Deep Space
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
The Obsidian Dagger Squadron, which had been based in Tergill, Naboo, for some time, recently relocated its headquarters. The new location is said to be Dantooine, though the sector fleet did not confirm this yet officially.
The reasons for this move are not known but believed to be related to logistics and a general concern for the safety of civilians - by moving all military buildings away the likelyhood of a rebel attack causing collateral damage to civilians is drastically reduced.
The move obviously did not impede the units effectiveness since two days ago its fighters as well as other imperial units skirmished with Rebel ships in Deep Space.
The following footage was recovered from the astromech of a rebel Y-Wing Longprobe bomber after its destruction and released by the new Obsidian Dagger Squadron Headquarters:

Visiting noble assassinated in Farpoint Valley!
Date: 150809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Farpoint Valley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Last night the city of Farpoint Valley received a visit from Lord Galendo Sirax of Naboo. The noble, recently retired from politics, was touring through the Rim in the footsteps of his uncle who disappeared on a trip there during the Clone Wars. Mayor Kimisei Bythmi personally greeted him at the new landing pad of the town and presented town notables Lady Thaesus Andromeda, CEO of Andromeda Enterprises, and Captain H'oshi QaVam, director of Pulsar Corporation, to him.
The mayor led the guest and a number of town residents and local visitors on a tour through a few of the attractions of the town, starting with the landing pad itself. Captain QaVam then presented the Pulsar compound next to the pad where the CORT-Raven's Claw and several fighters operated by the Pulsar Corporation were stationed. A beginning sandstorm was evaded by a short visit to the Dusty Diner, Pulsar Corporation's pilot's diner.
After this the group moved to the famous Black Hole, which serves both as company headquarters for Pulsar Corporation as well as a nightclub. For once the first floor, usually closed to the public, was opened, and director QaVam presented its facilities - ranging from a dais able to seat Jabba the Hutt comfortably to detention cells, company offices and a boardroom with maximal security.
The second floor houses the famous Black Hole nightclub, with its own stage for entertainers, though dancers are known to also use the bartop for performances, a gambling room with a droid and pet fighting arena and a hot (and steamy) spa area.
Next one the tour's menu was a visit to the Farpoint Valley control tower which handles all the air and space traffic to the town, built by the Pulsar Corporation as well. Captain QaVam gave an expert introduction into its mechanics while the less technically inclined enjoyed the breathtaking view from the tower's roof.
Then the Jailbirds nightclub was visited. Ramona, a dancer and member of the Neutron Pixies who own and operate the club, presented its interiour - main room, lounge, hot tub and gambling room - while briefly touching on the numerous wall decorations that keep the memory of famous people and events alive, such as the stuffed remains of the bioengineered animal that was used in an assassination attempt on mayor Sidious Inoxi, founder of Farpoint City.
The visit was planned to end after a brief stay in the city hall and mayor Bythmi's office there, skipping the Grindhouse fighting arena, spa and bar, where both tournaments and karaoke nights are held, but tragedy struck right when Lord Sirax was leaving the hall.
Smoke bombs and flash grenades went off, plunging the group with the noble into confusion, and when the smoke cleared a speeder was driving off at high speed, and Lord Sirax was on the floor, shot to the head by a sniper. A medic present immediately tried to save the noble, but without success.
According to the results of the autopsy the man had taken fatal brain damage as well as a lethal dose of a yet to be identified poison. An iron gauntlet with the lettering "W" on the back and a silver rifle were found later, left by the assassin. The noble's ship was also found sabotaged, unable to lift off for quite some time.
Rumors link this assassination to a well-known slaver organisation operating in Mos Eisley since a number of people known to associate with it, especially a female slaver wearing heavy armor, have been spotted during the incident. According to anonymous sources claim a man named "Wulfan" leads this organisation, and the woman is called "Kayla". Why Lord Sirax was killed remains a complete mystery though an extensive investigation, possibly with the participation of the RSF, is expected.
Mayor Bythmi has not yet commented on the incident, other than to present his condolences to the Sirax family and to assure them that every resident in the town was feeling for their loss.

Tailor kidnapped and mutilated - warning by slavers?
Date: 140809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Today Mos Eisley saw another case of gruesome violence related to organized crime. Jo Castin, a tailor from Rori visting the town, was entering Chalmun's through the backdoor when she was suddenly shot down by an armored woman known to be working for a local slaver organisation. The hapless tailor was bound and dragged out into a speeder by her assailant and a tall, winged lizard - a small dragon pet by some reports - and the group drove off into the desert.
What happened afterwards can only be guessed at, but a few hours later a traveler named Fox brought the bleeding, unconscious and near death Miss Castin to the Mos Eisley Med Center. As he explained he had been driving in his speeder when he hit a ditch and got thrown off. On that occasion he discovered the bleeding and mutilated tailor in the ditch and managed to stabilize her long enough to reach the med center.
The doctor treating her stated that Jo Castin had her legs and arms brutally broken, her tongue cut out and left on her body, and her belly cut open, then was left in the ditch eposed to the suns. She almsot died from shock, blood loss and extreme dehydration. In the med center her tongue was sewed back on and her other wounds treated, but while she is expected to survive her ordeal she cannot speak or move according to the latest information.
Anonymous sources claim that Miss Castin had recently been the victim of threats by slavers after she denounced their actions in strong words. This attack is likely to be a warning to the unfortunate victim and others, as shown by the cruel joke that the attackers left their victim with a comm link in reach after making sure she was unable to use it. The identity of the slavers is not yet known, but the armored woman is familiar to residents in Mos Eisley and was said to have been involved in several other slaver attacks, such as those reported on Holonews earlier this week.

Another slaver attack in Mos Eisley
Date: 140809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Last night another slaver attack occurred in Mos Eisley, this time in Chalmun's, the cantina infamous for its many violent incidents. While the exact background or circumstances are not known at this time witnesses saw two armored humanoids and what is described as a "sort of large, winged lizard or mutated dwarf krayt - no I am not drunk!" attack two equally armored men and their two large guardian droids and a dancer near them.
All were subdued in a quick but fierce fight then tied up before the lizard - likely sentient from its behaviour, at least according to the witnesses - dragged the unconscious dancer away.
Both armored assailants were labelled "slavers" by anonymous sources, but no name or affiliation was given, though a twi'lek male was overheard after the fight, giving them orders to "enslave the dancer".
Chalmun's only comment was that someone would pay for the damages done to the floor and walls, and that people should be more careful with their weapons.

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Recently a wave of new droid models has entered the market and many droid engineers and firms are building them as fast as they can to meet the demand. Some may have gone a bit too fast though, and forgone the needed quality testing.
Two days ago a guardian droid went out of control in Mos Eisley, attacking bystanders and even his owner, then attacking members of the MEPD who were nearby before he was destroyed.
So far it's unclear if there will be law suits against the producer of the droid - given the location of the incident, both the identity of its owner and the maker of the droid might be unclear.

Armed Robbery in the Lucky Despot!
Date: 120809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Two days ago the gamblers and guests in the Lucky Despot casino in Mos Eisley, Tatooine, were rudely interrupted when over half a dozen armed and armored men stormed the casino.
Many guests drew weapons to defnd themselves but were overcome by the well-equipped and prepared attackers. The guests were quickly subdued and then robbed of their credits and valuables.
From what is known the criminals got away with no sign or clue left that could be used to identify them. So far it remains unknown if a private bounty has been put on the perpetrators, but given the average visitor in Mos Eisley, odds are there are attemtps to track them down.

Mysterious Explosion in the Lucky Despot
Date: 120809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Last Night the Lucky Despot was shaken by an explosion on the roof of the starship turned building. All Lights had gone out and the casino was quickly closed for more than two hours, all gambling system shut down for "emergency fixing". The reasons for the explosion are not yet known - or have not been revealed - but rumors claim it was a weapon malfunction, or some bomb placed in a cybernetic limb going off.
The Lucky Despot was reopened rather quickly given the severity of the incident and any damage the building might have taken was repaired, but guests were scarce for a while still. Management did not comment on speculations raised to them, but stated that the venue was secure and safe for any guests.

Farpoint Valley opens new landing pad
Date: 110809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Farpoint Valley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Farpoint Valley's mayor Kimisei Bythmi announced today that the city was opening a new landing pad. The landing pad, constructed by the Pulsar Corporation, is situated near the shuttleport, which will continue to serve the planetary shuttles, and able to handle light freighters such as the YT-1300 and YT-2400, which are most commonly used in the weekly ore transports of the Intergalactic Mining Company.
The mayor, here next to Lady Thaesus Andromeda, stated that the landing pad was a logical consequence of the expansion the town was currently experiencing, and thanked H'oshi QaVam, director of the Pulsar Corporation, for the excellent design by his company.
The landing pad incorporates a tunnel as well, for easier access to the primary banking terminal of Farpoint Valley.

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Yesterday the new Temple of Quietus in New Doros was attacked by vandals. The unknown thugs smashed several windows before they were driven off by attentive guards and members of the faithful.
The temple curator had the following to say: "The Temple of Quietus remains perfectly intact and construction will continue on-schedule. Outward agressions this early in development is disheartening but we will succeed in our task."
So far it is not clear what the motive behind this attack is. According to rumors prominent supporters of the temple were threatened in the past already, but it's not clear if this was related to their faith, or done for other reasons.

IMC Convoy reaches Ord Mantell after inspection
Date: 110809
Planet: Tatoo System/Naboo System/Ord Mantell
Region: Nova Orion Station
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Yesterday the regular cargo convoy from Tatooine to Ord Mantell had to make a stop on Naboo for an inspection by the RSF. The convoy, composed of the YT-2400 class "TTC-Tencilia" flown by captain Inaera Kell and a converted Decimator piloted by Zeus, was escorted by a Bellubab-22 piloted by Nauvasheena' and an older Y-Wing flown by Ravane.
The convoy's crew gathered in Farpoint Valley, moving from Jailbirds to the IMC Headquarters, and shortly afterwards took off from Tatooine.
The convoy had barely entered the Naboo system when it came under attack by pirates. The raiders usually attacked alone though, which made them easier opponents. While approaching Naboo the ships shot down an A-Wing and an ARC-170, but both escorts took damage, which prolonged the stay on Naboo.
After the cargo was deemed safe by authorities and the escorts had been repaired the convoy continued to the Ord Mantell system, where another ARC-170 attacked and was shot down by the escorts after getting disabled. Neither freighter took damage and the cargo was safely delivered to the Nova Orion Station.
IMC shares rose 5 % at the Coronet Stock Exchange following the news.

Imperial Task Force wiped out in Deep Space
Date: 110809
Planet: Deep Space
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Three days ago the Imperial Navy launched an operation to destroy the rebel supply base in Deep Space as a first step in retaking the sector from rebel control. However the task force - roughly ten ships and supported by the Imperial Star Destroyer class ship "ISS Annihilator" - faced much stronger rebel forces than expected. They not only had to abandon the offensive operation but also lost the "ISS Annihilator" to several rebel bomber runs.
While the Imperial Fleet Sector Headquarters declined to comment on the situation, independent reports claim that the Alliance Fleet has achieved a clear advantage in power and numbers over the Imperial Navy in the local sector.

Imperial Navy hard pressed in Deep Space
Date: 110809
Planet: Deep Space
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
As was officially announced today by the Imperial Fleet Headquarters the Sector Fleet is facing increasing resistance by rebel forces in Deep Space. A task force lead by the Obsidian Dagger Squadron based in Tergill, Naboo, encountered rebel forces in Deep Space four days ago.
At first the rebel ships the task force encountered numbered very few but they received rapid reinforcements. Soon they started to take control of Deep Space despite spirited and determinded resistance by the Imperial task force, who barely managed to hold the line and had to concede much of the sector to the rebel forces.
The following footage was released by the Obsidian Dagger Squadron Headquarters in Tergill, Naboo:

Mos Eisley becomes a hunting ground for slavers
Date: 090809
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Mos Eisley
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Mos Eisley is currently seeing a rising activity of slavers of all kinds. Several slaving organisations are competing in the town, and their actions - or acquistions as some would say - grow more and more daring.
Just today two dancers, a zabrak and a twi'lek dancer, were dragged from the stage in the Lucky Despot and captured in a small firefight, and according to unconfirmed reports other dancers barely escaped a similar fate. It is not know who was responsible for that act so far.
The mayor of Mos Eisley declined to comment on "incidents between criminals", and stated that he had no reports of any illegal activity.
Visitors of Mos Eisley are well-advised to remain on their guard, especially twi'leks.

Medical Supplies transport for Doctors without Sectors attacked
Date: 080809
Planet: Naboo/Talus
Region: Theed/Nashal
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Yesterday the Tatooine Trading Corporation chartered the "CORT-Raven's Claw", a YT-2400 class light freighter captained by H'oshi QaVam, to deliver medical supplies donated the Theed Medical Center for the Doctors without Sectors Field Hospital near Nashal, Talus. In the spirit of the charitable mission TTC waived their usual transport fee and paid the transport costs themselves.
However not everyone was sharing this sentiment. While the pickup of the supplies in Theed went off without troubles - overseen by Icyja Niami, a medic employed by the Theed Medical Center - the transport had barely entered the Corellia System when it was attacked by an unidentified ARC-170. Fortunately the ship took no damage and managed to shoot down the raider while approaching the orbital station of Talus.
Even after landing the transport's troubles were not over since a man attacked the crew while the supplies were being loaded on a transport skiff at the Nashal Spaceport. Captain QaVam was forced to kill the attacker to save his crew and the supplies.
And finally, right on the steps of the Doctors without Sectors Field Hospital where Dr. Eabha Brea was waiting bandits ambushed the transport, stunning Miss Namia before they were driven away.
TTC was quoted that the situation on Talus was growing worse by the minute when even medical supplies for missions of the Doctors without Sectors were attacked by bandits but stated that the company would continue to ship whatever was needed whereever it was needed, especially if it served to save innocent lives.

IMC Convoy attacked twice
Date: 040809
Planet: Tatoo System/Naboo System/Ord Mantell
Region: Nova Orion Station
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Yesterday the regular cargo convoy from Tatooine to Ord Mantell took place again. The freighter, the YT-2400 class TTC-Tencilia, was escorted by a Vaksai, callsign "Chaos" and a TIE Advanced, Callsign "Apathy".
The convoy was attacked by an X-Wing space superiority fighter shortly after entering the Naboo system, and the freighter took serious damage and lost half the cargo before the fighter could be neutralized by the escorts.
After repairs in the orbit of Naboo the convoy proceeded to the hyperpoint to Ord Mantell. Right when the ships were getting ready to hyper an A-Wing jumped them, shooting down the Vaksai in the first and surprising pass. A dogfight ensued, but both the TIE Advanced and the TTC-Tencilia managed to hyper to Ord Mantell.
They did not notice that the A-Wing had also hypered to Ord Mantell, and while the TIE Advanced was undergoing repairs at the Nova Orion station already the pirate attacked again, forcing the freighter to abort the landing approach. Fortunately the freighter managed to shoot down the A-Wing in the combat that followed.
IMC shares rose 1 % at the Coronet Stock Exchange following the news.

Obsidian Dagger Squadron conducts Scan and Destroy Patrol
Date: 030809
Planet: Kashyyyk System/Karthakk System/Yavin System/Dantooine System/Deep Space
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Three days ago the Obsidian Dagger Squadron, reinforced by elements from several other imperial units, went on an extended patrol through several systems with the objective of scanning for rebel forces and destroying them.
The task force was gathered in the Kashyyyk system and jumped to the Karthakk system to start the patrol. There they encountered a mid-sized rebel force right after entering the system. In the fight that ensued all rebel ships were destroyed without any losses on the imperial side.
No more rebels were found in the Karthakk system, nor were any rebel units encountered in the Yavin system where the task force moved to next. The system after that, Dantooine, saw more heavy fighting, but again the rebels were defeated with neglible losses on the imperial side. Finally remaining rebels were defeated in the Deep Space sector.
The following footage was released by the Obsidian Dagger Squadron Headquarters in Tergill, Naboo:

IMC Convoy raided on Nova Orion Station
Date: 030809
Planet: Tatoo System/Naboo System/Ord Mantell
Region: Nova Orion Station
Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC).
Because the regular IMC convoy had been delayed due to the injuries IMC manager Kimisei Bythmi had sustained in the raid on the IMC HQ an out of schedule cargo convoy had been sent from Tatooine to Ord Mantell three days ago. The TTC-Skaretan, a YT_2400 class light freighter, was escorted by a Vaksai piloted by Waefi Stromchaser and a TIE Bomber courtesy of the Imperial Navy.
The convoy made it to Naboo without difficulties but was attacked there by a YT-1300 "Dark Nexus" and another Vaksai. In the following fight Waefi's Vaksai was damaged while the pirates were struck back and the convoy continued to Ord Mantell.
However upon landing in the Nova Orion Station the crew of the TTC-Skaretan - and the escorting pilots were ambushed by pirates! While the imperial pilot was called away citing urgent duties the rest of the pilots and crew were attacked. Only Waefi Stromchaser managed to escape while the others were overpowered and the cargo stolen and the walls of the hangar defaced with the pirates' logo.
According to some reports this was claimed to be in revenge for earlier setbacks suffered by the pirates - the Shadow Nexus Pirates but no further details were given so far. An investigation into possible collaboration on the part of employes of Nova Orion Shipyards is also under way due to the suspicious circumstances regarding the incident. Insurance agents are said to be investigating the business of Mister Stromchaser as well, for rumors about his possible involvement with the pirates.
IMC shares fell 2 % at the Coronet Stock Exchange following the news.
