A week ago the TT_Starchaser, a YT-2400-class ship, was chartered by the Intergalactic Mining Company for a cargo transport from Tatooine to Ord Mantell. The ship was escorted by a TIE Advanced in order to repel pirate attacks.
However upon arriving at the Sea of Veruna hyperspace jump point in the Naboo system the freighter was ambushed by two pirate ships led by a modified YT-1300 light freighter, the apparent flagship of the infamous Thunder Pirates. Despite resistance, the escorting fighter was shot down and the TTC-Starchaser was disabled and boarded.
After forcing the crew to use the escape pods, the pirates jury-rigged the damaged engines and took off, shooting down a pursuing TIE-Advanced before disappearing from the system. Due to the damage done to the ship's engines, authorities expect that extensive repairs are needed before the ship is able to do long range jumps.
IMC shares fell 3 % at the Coronet Stock Exchange following the news. TTC are offering a reward of 500'000 credits for the safe return of the ship whiule IMC renewed their bounty of 50'000 credits on any pirate that is killed or caught in the act of piracy.
