While Mos Eisley always had a spice abuse problem - everyone is familiar with the spiceheads around and in town - spice dealing and spice-related crimes have been low lately, compared with the height of Tatooine's Underground War a few years ago. And the slaving frenzy has gotten most of the attention lately as well, overshadowing spice dealing.
Recently though there have been increasing numbers of reports of spice pushers becoming more active, especially in the cantinas of Mos Eisley, and rumors of more smugglers being hired for smuggling spice are spreading as well.
The MEPD stated that this was just a statistical spike, and not indicative of a long-term development, but did not comment when asked if they had taken any counter measures.
