Alliance forces control Bestine

Date: 300811
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Bestine

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC.)

Bestine, the capital of Tatooine, has been a hotspot of the Galactic Civil War for some time, a hotly contested town, with almost daily raids and battles being launched against the imperial garrison holding it. Alliance forces managed to achieve a number of victories, but never controlled the town for any length of time - until now.

Since over a week the Alliance forces are controlling the town, beating back Imperial relief forces trying to regain the city. It's anyone's guess if the Empire will be able to regain control of Bestine anytime soon, with the Alliance advancing on several other fronts as well and holding key cities such as Dearic on Talus and Keren on Naboo.

Anti-pirate task force moving to Farpoint Valley

Date: 290811
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Farpoint Valley

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC.)

A few days ago residents of Farpoint Valley, Tatooine, spotted a new bunker on the outskirts of the town, guarded by stormtoopers. Discrete inquiries revealed that this is likely the headquarters of a new anti-pirate task force headed by Lt. Edmuun Blackadder, tasked with neutralizing the threat of pirates to shipping and other business in the system.

According to the latest rumors the task force is still in the process of familiarizing itself with the region and the system as well as preparing supply chains and maintenance facilities and may not yet be active.

Complex vanishes, corpse found near Farpoint Valley

Date: 290811
Planet: Tatooine
Region: Farpoint Valley

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC.)

Three days ago residents of Farpoint Valley discovered that an old and seemingly abandoned building complex north-west of the city had vanished overnight, leaving behind just debris and a corpse.

The buildings, part of a trade and manufacturing outpost once, involved in a kidnapping affair according to rumors, were transported using hey repulsorlifts according to the traces left, likely to another location on the planet. A corpse was found stuck between two rocks, killed by blaster fire. The human or near-human male has not yet been identified, lacking documents or an ID.

Dr. Johda's Med Center acquired a DNA profile from tissue samples recovered from the corpse and has the corpse in its freezer for a possible identification or retrieval for a burial by relatives. Anyone in search of a missing male human or near human is asked to contact the clinic or town to match DNA records.

Massacre on Dathomir

Date: 290811
Planet: Dathomir
Region: Northern Dathomir

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC.)

An exploring prospector scouting for new veins of valuable ore found the remains of a massacre in northern Dathomir yesterday when he stumbled on a cave that was once inhabotated by natives to the planet but now was filled with the decaying remains of more than a dozen people. Judging by the state of decay the massacre happened about a week ago, but since scavengers and predators already fed on the remins it is hard to accurately devise the time of death. At least a few of the dead were killed with a bladed melee weapon though, which makes it likely that the atrocity was committed by another tribe of the planet.

IMC Convoy struck by technical troubles and pirates

Date: 290811
Planet: Tatooine/Corellia System/Ord Mantell System
Region: Farpoint Valley/Nova Orion Station

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC.)

A week ago the Intergalactic Mining COmpany sent another Convoy transporting ore from Farpoint Valley, Tatooine, to Ord Mantell's Nova Orion Station. The convoy was made up of four ships originally - Captain Ryian Coron's YT-1300 "Spinning Cloud", Captain Benjam's Decimator-class "Lucky Silver", Captain Britney's YT-2400 "Sugar Rush" and Catpain Dee'lin Sarlo's YT-1300 "Phoenix". The "Phoenix" suffered from persistent engine troubles however and had to drop out before the convoy left Tatooine's orbit.

The three remaining ships were attacked in the Corellia system by a "Scurrg" fighter/bomber and an ARC-170 long range recon ship, but both ships were shot down by the freighters' turrets before doing much damage. The cargo was safely delivered to Ord Mantell.

IMC shares rose 2 % at the Coronet Stock Exchange following the news.

Capital ships deployed in several systems

Date: 220811
Planet: Local Sector

Story: (Written by the Galactic News Agency, Ramona doesn't write IC.)

Since a few days reports of both the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic deploying capital ships in several systems are turning up, mostly of the "Lancer" and "Nebulon-B" classes. From what has been gathered the Tatooine, Corellia, Naboo, Karthakk and Dantooine systems have seen frequent battles between task forces led by those frigates and supported by starfighters, gunboats and even armed freighters and patrol boats of all types.

Civilians in those systems are warned to stay on the patrolled lanes and avoid the battles lest they risk geetting destroyed by stray shots or mistaken attacks.
